To give a neat finish to your lipstick, clean your lips with cleansing milk. Spread the foundation over your lips and let it dry. With your brush coated with lipstick, open your mouth and with stretching your lips to the maximum, outline the upper lip. Press the lips together; then use the lipstick to outline the lower lip and fill in with the lipstick. Take a tissue and press your lips over it. Powder lightly and start the outlining again; with the darker lipstick on your brush, correct the natural defects of your mouth; the two shades must melt into each other.
Correcting the outline of the mouth:
Perfect make-up is a studied elegance produced by corrective lines made with a very light hand. Beware of excess just as you should beware of passing fashions. Here are some guidelines for correcting the outline of the mouth:
1. For an oval face - follow the natural curve of the upper lip, making the line slightly shorter on the lower lip.
2. For a round face - draw both lips generously, right up to the corner.
3. For pear-shaped face - the lips should be painted along their whole length, without drawing sweeping or heavy curves.
4. For a square shaped face - do not make a heart shaped mouth, but do emphasise the cleft of the upper lip.
5. For a rectangular face - design a generous mouth with attractive curves.
6. For a triangular face – design a full mouth, lengthened at the corners.
