Is your hair turning grey very rapidly? How to retard this phenomenon?

The gradual greying of the hair with age is a physiological process. The loss of the pigment melanin in hairs shafts is due to the non-functioning of the pigment producing cells called melanocytes, which are present in the hair roots. In the roots of white hair, functioning melanocytes are either less in number or are absent. Premature greying (greying which begins before the age of 20), could be due to genetic causes.  It can also be caused due to acute fever, debilitating diseases, emotional stress, nutritional deficiencies, pernicious anaemia, thyroid disorders and cardiovascular diseases. There is no treatment for retarding the process but you can use a hair colorant.
