RaktaPitta is an indisposition in which bleeding occurs from the upper or lower channels of the body.
Signs and Symptoms:
Bleeding from the upper channels like nose, mouth etc. or from lower channels like anus, urinary passage, female genital organ, etc. or petechial hemorrhage, asthenia, cough, dyspnea, fever, loss of appetite, indigestion, vomiting, thirst, burning sensation, nervousness, frequent motions, pallor and unconsciousness are the main signs and symptoms of Rakta Pitta.
The list of avoidable and useful habits and items of diet for the patients of Raktapitta is lengthy indeed. In sum however, one may prescribe the following items of food as useful in cases of Raktapitta: old rice, barley, mudga ( phaseolus bean), lentil, gram, pigeon pea and kidney bean, raw sugar, honey, sugarcane, ghritam, banana, jackfruit, almon, patola, kirata tikta, stem of kamala, leaves of neem, pomegranate, coconut, apple and raisin.
The patient can take meat of a number of animals and birds including rabbit, deer, pigeon, swans, ducks, partridge and wood-cutter. Moreover, virechana, massage, plaster of sandalwood paste on the body and bathing, etc are helpful for the patients of Raktapitta.
Following is the list which should be avoided by a person suffering from Raktapitta disorders:
Wrestling, walking, roaming under direct sun, smoking, anger etc.
