Tips for healthy living




Observe the following simple habits. They will help you to maintain good health. That habits can be adopted paying due consideration to your age, sex, region, strength, digestive power, mental health and diseased stage.


1. Maintain regular habits as regards bowel movements. Inadequate sleep, improper digestion, worry, tension and anger may prevent proper bowel movement. Often the problem could be due to over-eating or to disagreeable night meal, for Ex: consisting of fried items, curd, meat, fish etc. These could also lead to flatulence.
2. Wake up before sunrise. As soon as you wake up remember God for mental peace.
3. Brush your teeth and clean the tongue daily to get rid of bad odour.
4. Sprinkle cold water on your eyes when you wash your face. This will help to improve your eye sight.
5. Have a glass of water in the morning. It is very good for general health. Persons with Pitta constitution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dosha) should drink cold water and others, cold or warm water. Cold water should not be taken if you are suffering from cough, sore throat or cough. Avoid bed coffee as it produces adverse effect on the glands of the stomach.
 6. Have regular exercise in the morning till you perspire, especially if you are doing sedentary work. A long brisk walk is also good.
7. Take bath at least once in a day. It is necessary for good health. Warm water is good for the body and cold water for the head.
8. Daily practice of meditation or performance of pooja after bath will improve the health and mind.
9. Make sure your food is fresh, warm, balanced or moderate quantity and taken at appropriate times.
10. After lunch, walk hundred steps, lie down or relax in a chair for a few minutes.
11. If you are working in an office, a stroll in the evening or outdoor games will help you refresh your mind and body.
12. Have only very light meal (dinner) at night.
13. Meditate for sometimes before you sleep.
14. Do not sleep during the day except in summer. Oil message, a good bath, a comfortable bed and absence of worries, ensure good sleep.
