How to prepare white sauce?



Requirements: 1 litre milk, 100 gm margarine, 100 grms flour, 1 onion.

Method: Melt the margarine in a thick-bottomed pan. Add the flour and mix. Cook for a few minutes over a gentle heat without colouring. Gradually add the warmed milk and stir till smooth. Add the onion studded with a clove. Allow to simmer for 30 minutes. Remove the onion,  pass the sauce thruogh a strainer. Cover with a film of butter or margarine to prevent a skin forming.
