Bhastrika Pranayam (Bellows)




Method: Sit in Padmasan pose crossing your legs. Close the mouth. Now, inhale and exhale forcibly and quickly ten times through the nose like bellows of blacksmith. Constantly dilate and contract the chest. Then, make a deep inhalation through both the nostrils. Retain the breath as long as you can and then exhale completely. This completes on round. Repeat this 4 times to start with and gradually increase it to 20.


Benefits: This is a powerful exercise, It relieves inflammation of the throat, increase gastric fire, destroys phlegm, cures the diseases of the nose and chest and cures asthma and T.B. Diseases due to excess of wind, bile and phlegm are cured. Nervous system is toned up considerably improving health and strength.
